Best light kit to bring your Lego BD-1 to life!
Awesome kit for bringing BD-1 a little more to life! I bought this LMB 1.0 kit during the Anniversary Sale and also purchased a Rotating Sequence Effects Board from the DIY Range. Everything is packaged neatly into separated and labelled bags.
Wiring was fairly straight forward, though I did do extensive modifications to the interior of BD's head unit between the front wall and technic brick that the head swivels on to mount all the electronic boards neatly. The 12 port expansion board is suspended on two brick studs, the spooky board in a channel built between this board and a brick I added for the 'eyes'.
I wanted his photoreceptor and holoprojectors to look more like looking reverse through binoculars. I used a 1x8 brick with holes (3702) behind his eyes to set the two bit lights into to light the blue rod. Between the studs of this brick and the front wall I mounted the rotating sequence board vertically, ports facing to the back of the head unit.
I also modified the side plate light to recess the alternating red/blue bit light one additional stud lower so just the top of the stud protrudes from the head.
Instead of using the 8 port expansion board, I used the 8 port rotating sequence board to connect 8 of 9 bit lights for the LED panel on the back of the head unit. For the time being the center bit light is always on, but I may use the leftover expansion board to have two lights sequence together so they all rotate.
